About the project

The Community Organizing Genealogy Project is a part of Center for Community Change. All information will be housed at the Center for Community Change. Raw data will be available by request to writers & historians studying the field of organizing & to our funders, which includes The C.W. Mott Foundation.

Phone numbers and e-mail addresses will not be displayed on the website & are gathered only for the purpose of contacting survey participants if clarification is needed.

If you choose to participate, you will first create an account with a user name & password where the content may only be entered or revised by you (We reserve the right, with assistance from our advisory committee, to remove entries of persons clearly not a part of the community organizing community).

Secondly, you will answer a series of questions about your work history, your thoughts about organizing, and about influences (like movements, or religious and/or political traditions) on your organizing experience.

Finally, you will be asked to provide the names of people who developed &/or mentored you as an organizer & those you have developed &/or mentored.

At any time, you can also recommend others to include in the genealogy. To do this, click on the "Invite your Colleagues" link in the green menu above.
